1st NATIONAL EDUCATION
RESEARCH & ECONOMIC CONFERENCE

25th – 26th Nov. 2020, NECA Events Center Hakeem Balogun Street CBD, Alausa Ikeja Lagos

About The Event

About ED:FORUM

OVERVIEW The COVID-19 pandemic threatens education progress in Nigeria through national closing of schools at all levels, lower remittance flows and the country’s lockdowns froze economic activities, causing job losses and supply chain disruptions. Deep recessions associated with the pandemic likely aggravate the multi-decade slowdown in economic growth and productivity, the primary drivers of higher living standards and poverty reduction. The school-closings spark leads to learning loss, increased dropouts and higher inequality and the economic shock exacerbates the damage by depressing high employment rate and oil price crash. Together, they inflict long-run costs on human capital and welfare. Nigeria now has an opportunity to build back better; use the most effective crisis-recovery strategies as the basis for long-term improvements in areas like assessment, pedagogy, parental involvement, technology, financing and economic recovery. .
